Emergency Preparedness & Response Plan Should be prepared for every process industry where Man and Machine interact with each other. Some processes which involves hazardous raw materials or processes involve ON-SITE and OFF-SITE Emergency.
Emergency Preparedness & Response plan includes :
- Type of Emergencies to be defined
- The number and location of emergency control centre assembly points
- Nominate emergency team or key personnel to handle & control the situation
- Arrange suitable and adequate protective and rescue equipments enlist them and the location of availability may be defined
- The emergency rescue team need be trained to use these equipment
- The emergency communication with local bodies and other organization need to be identified
- Procedure for arranging alternate power source
- The fire emergency response system
- The medical emergency response system
- Emergency alarm system and alerting system
- Emergency operations to be carried may be defined for each of emergencies
- Display of MSDS( Material safety Data Sheet ) to be displayed for Hazardous substances
Objectives of the Management plan
- Advance planning for each possible emergency to combat and minimize the adverse effect
- Recommendations on initial actions to be taken like warning, evacuation of surrounding personnel etc.
- Containment of incident and control it with minimum damage
- Rescue, relief and assistance to the affected people.
